Be the change you want to see...

     I am involved in a painting challenge.  The challenge is 30 paintings in 30 days!  I will be travelling and I just didn't feel that at this time that was a realistic challenge.  Working full time as a family doctor, I felt that agreeing to 30 paintings in 30 days was more than i could handle and would set me up for certain disappointment and a sense of failure.    So what i decided was to commit to 7 paintings in 7 days. Today is day 2 and i will share what i have come up with so far.    I am not certain that the second is quite done but I'm supposed to "finish it"  by the end of the day.  I am so tired as after a very full day at work, I have been painting for 3 hours.  

The first is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's quote "Be the change you want to see in the world".  This actually was paraphrased from his many writings.  He wrote, "We but mirror the world.  If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change.  As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him"

This writing was published in 1913.  In honor of that sentiment I painted this very small painting only measuring 12 inches by 12 inches.
